Ever since I was a young boy, I enjoyed watching movies. Even in the present, my wife and I prefer watching cinematic productions over any form of mainstream media news programs.
At least when you are watching a movie, you know going into the story it is fake. When you watch mainstream news, many people believe the content reported is based on accurate information.
I think that the movies made ten to fifteen years ago are so much better than the films produced today.
In my opinion, computer-generated imaging (CGI) and special effects (SFX) have destroyed the motion picture. Many films produced today are laden with expensive SFX and CGI technology. What was initially incorporated into a movie to make things appear more believable for moviegoers has caused the opposite result. The films of yesterday are better and more believable than today’s productions because there is far less technology incorporated into the older movies.
Present-day CGI and SFX technologies are so overused throughout many movies that the storytelling components of the films are often lost or nonexistent.
Do we really need to see hundreds of car crashes, high-speed vehicle chases, and fifty different explosions in a ninety-minute flick?
How many people must be murdered using SFX in a movie before it becomes overkill?
The youngsters and moviegoers of today have to have nonstop SFX and CGI film applications to enjoy a movie. Said technologies are so overutilized in modern cinematic productions that there is little room for character and storyline development, in my opinion.
I feel as if CGI and SFX have killed the movie star. Give me less movie technology and more great acting, and I will be happier watching the big-screen events.

Hi all,
Did you catch Dolly Parton at half time at the game with the Dallas Cowboys? She has a new album, Rock Star.
It was amazing to see a 76/77 year old singer up there, on the one hand.
But I hear the stars may be pentagrams. This could explain her recent song used to encourage taking the vaccine, based on her original, “Jolene”.
And talk about an adrenochrome junkie. Sad.

Thank you for sharing, Lisa! I do believe that the movies of today are overdone with the special technologies in many instances. There are exceptions to my statement, of course.
I saw the Hunger Games, too. I liked that film, the way it was produced.

Well said, John, and I couldn’t agree with you more. The old movies and TV shows were better years ago.
The old movies had interesting storylines that displayed emotion. You are right, the actors and actresses are what held the audiences attention, and now that has been stolen from them.
I don’t like watching Netflix, etc. It seems like everything is crude, violent, gory and smutty.
They use the CGI to make everything grotesque and explosive.
I don’t need those negative energies. But many of the new generation is all caught up in this. And some of the old generation as well.
I only watch a few reality shows such as American Idol, Americas Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars.
Although I do go to the theater with my adult daughter when she comes home. I enjoy spending time with her. Although I have to tell you, sometimes we will watch the animated kids movies! 🤣
However, those are loaded with CGI, too. But usually it is a tamer storyline and not so offensive.
Although we did go see Hunger Games Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes a few days ago. I was curious. And it was an interesting one. But again, it’s about people killing one another. And they try to convince the audience that it is a necessary evil and that we all have a killer instinct. But I believe that this so called entertainment is just another attempt to try to set us apart from one another, and keep from listening to our inner consciousness.
