I totally agree, John. It’s all in people’s heads! It doesn’t hurt anyone.
And colors are always beautiful, no matter how you perceive them! 🙂

    Excellent information, Lisa!

Someone is always offended by something. I ignore all of that nonsense.

Do what you like, and do not worry about offending people. As long as you are not trying to hurt people, I don’t see a problem with it.

What a great idea to give out a Target List DVD as a Christmas gift, John!

I ordered a bunch this morning. The more who watch the movie, the more the word will spread!

And on the topic of Christmas, I have heard some locally ridiculous news in my area recently. The city, Wauwatosa, WI has banned the colors red and green from any public city Christmas displays in order to not offend any non-religious people. They have recommended using the colors blue and purple instead. Also, using wintery decorations. But they are not to use snowmen either. But they are permitted to use white snow people! 🤣

John, the world keeps getting crazier by the minute! Now it’s Christmas colors. And I have never really thought about the red and green Christmas colors as being religious. I tend to think of Santa Claus in his red suit and green Christmas trees. As I think many other people do as well.

So, this made me curious as to where the red and green Christmas colors came from.

Ans apparrently, these colors were first associated with the Winter Solstice.

    By Rebecca Norris:

“Centuries ago, ancient Celtic people believed that holly plants brought beauty and good fortune in the middle of winter. As such, they’d regularly outfit their homes with red and green plants as a way to promote a prosperous year.
Overtime, the Celtic habit of putting up red and green holly transformed into hanging red and green decorations. And thus, the idea of decking the halls with the merry colors became a passed down, well known tradition across the world.

“While many people flock to these colors each year and every year out of habit and style sense, Christian’s believe the hues (and, more specifically, the holly wreaths they’re derived from) to be symbolic of Jesus’ crown. Where the red berries represent Jesus’ blood, the spiky holly leaves are said to embody the crown of thorns that encircled his head on the cross.

By now you are assuming that the only answers are Jesus and the ancient Celtics, but get this: Another big reason why red and green are such a major part of the holidays is thanks to – wait for it – Coca Cola.

In 1931, the cola company brought Santa to life in magazine ads. The result was a jolly, bearded man decked out in red and white surrounded by verbiage bordered in green.
And although there were many illustrators and cartoonists who dreamed Santa before these ads ran, these images changed the way Americans imagined Santa and Christmas as a whole.”

And what other Christmas colors hold religious symbolism?

“Gold symbolizes the gift from the three wise men, blue represents Mother Mary and the rich blue robes she was often seen in as a result of her wealth, and white links to the purity of Jesus himself.”

I guess somebody had better tell those city officials in Wauwatosa that blue and white are religious colors as well! Not to mention that there is more to the traditional Christmas colors of red and green then religion! Including coca cola! 🤣
