Heard it on a YouTube show this morning, he’s spot on. It’s about, as you said, dividing people by race, sex, wealth, and too many of us are falling for it.

I am a republican, and was a union Rep at my plant for over 8 years. The union people that appointed me knew I was a republican, I took a lot of harassment from a few union people, just grousing stuff. Almost everyone part of the local union is a democrat.

But, being a republican, I agreed with some of the insults frequently given by supervisors to disturb the topic and divert attention from issues they didn’t want to address. But, I largely agreed with their insults, so they were meaningless to me (the insult). In fact, when an attempt was made by supervisors to disrupt the issue of concern, I’d laugh, heartily at times.

It became 2nd nature. If their response didn’t pertain to the issue, and was insulting, it was a diversion, to be ignored, and for me to see that the topic once again returned to the issue, if possible.

We’re being played by our society in so many ways.

I respected the good that the union could do for the membership, and workplace, my allegiance is to those that appointed me (local president), and paid me (company), and I realized that a balance between need, want, and resources, needs to exist. The bad I saw in unions is no different than the bad brought by companies and workforce in non-union companies. I appreciated my appointment and was proud to be part for 8+ years.
