I went into the grocery store earlier today with my wife. She immediately heads off in one direction to get fruits and vegetables, and I in another to pick up some bagels and cream cheese.
Somehow, I get preoccupied with trying to make out the fine print ingredients on the cream cheese package (my eyes are not what they used to be) and lose track of where I am walking.
Eventually, I located what I believed were my wife and the grocery cart she was pushing. I walk over and reflexively place my two items in the basket while telling her, “I’ll be right back; I need to grab some deli meats.”
When I look up, a woman stranger stares at me, probably believing I am nuts. After realizing I had made a mistake, I laughed and said, “You’re not my wife!”
The woman smiled and said, “Not tonight.”
I picked up my groceries, apologized for the misunderstanding, and eyed my actual wife, looking at me from across the store, wondering what I was doing.
When I explained the series of events, my wife smiled and said, ” I hope that I never go missing and have to rely on you to give my description to the police.”
Gee, it’s tough getting older! 😂

Funny stuff!
When I visited my aunt, uncle and cousins in Honolulu, we went to a live show. When it was over I walked back to their old car and climbed in.
Several guys started to gather around, looking at me and talking. Finally, one of them said to me, “Bra, yer in my car!”
They were kind but I was mortified and slinked out of their car and waited for the rest of my party, which was already arriving, wondering what I was talking with the strangers about. I fessed up and we had a good laugh.

Haha! 😆 Fun story, John! Thanks for the share. But we can all get distracted and do silly things at times.
I’ll never forget when I was at the wheel of my son’s car to supposedly step on the gas pedal while the guys pushed it out of the snow bank. But the only problem with that was that I stepping on the brake instead. 🤔
My son was yelling out, “Mom, Mom, are you sure you have your foot on the gas pedal?” They were really working up a sweat!!
(That is not my autistic son. I have two sons. And a daughter.)
But I don’t think of it as getting older, John. Our minds are just flying high in another dimension. We are just simply not completely in this realm! 🤣
