Keeping up with the high cost of inflation

Dr. John Reizer

In the 1960s, one could buy a helluva lot of things with $3,000. To buy the same merchandise today would cost around $90,000. Things haven’t gotten more expensive; our fiat currency, the dollar, has become less valuable due to inflationary pressures that are inherently tied to a currency system not backed by tangible assets, such as precious metals.

Today, it costs over $4,000 to buy 1 ounce of gold, whereas in 1967, it cost only $35 to buy the same amount.

Gold hasn’t become more expensive; the US dollar has become less valuable because it is being printed in greater quantities without being backed by tangible assets.

At one time, our US currency was as good as gold. Today, it’s barely worth the paper it’s printed on, and not for much longer as we approach a digital currency system in the coming years that will render physical cash obsolete.

Our Latest Movie Journalist’s Review

“Target List is done with great attention to cinematic details and climactic maturation of the plot. The topic is timely. The dialogue is good and fits the characters. The action scenes are minimalistic but contextually relevant and come with a feel of action usually seen in TV movies.”

It sure feels like a different place here than when we grew up, Lisa, in so many ways. I liked the way things appeared years ago, even though the same controllers and their control mechanisms have been here for our entire lives.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the post. 👍🙂

So very true, John, the dollar isn’t worth what it used to be. The value of it has changed so quickly. And everything is digital nowadays, and it’s probably only going to get worse.

But I still insist on paying for a few things with cash. Although they always try to sway you by putting it out there that you’ll save money if you use an app.

Also, everything in our lives has changed so quickly. The new technology seems to have come out of nowhere. It does seem like that they’ve been all prepared all along to give us back some of the advanced technology from the old world.

Which can be fun, but also a pain to figure out. Especially for those who didn’t grow up with it. I barely even know how to work the smart TV! But I consider that a good thing for the most part. 🤣

Things used to be much simpler. Children used to be more interested in playing outside and discovering the world hands on. But now their hands are glued to their cell phones or other devices.

It’s scary wondering we’ll be in just a few more years. Talk about a script they have written for us to live through. And they’re getting anxious to see it through to the end.

But maybe that’s because there are those who came here to wake up the Earth realm. 😎

    Lisa
