I hope you’ll keep posting about this, John, as it is such a grave violation of civil rights to have these data-collecting cameras sucking up everyone’s personal data (which the police — and all the folks at the Wild West/no-oversight fusion centers nationwide can, and no doubt, do, sell).

It’s important to remember, though, that Flock is just one of many ALPR companies. Axon is another (and one in which Donald Trump invested between $1 million and $5 million earlier this year, an investment which occurred just two weeks before ICE — housed at fusion centers — announced a $220 million contract with Axon for their Tasers.

Other ALPR companies folks should come out against are Vigilant Solutions (a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions), Genetec, PlateSmart, Innova Systems, Rekor, ELSAG, Perceptics, and Jenoptik.

Plus, as the ACLU pointed out, these cameras are not just lining our roadways, they are being utilized by corporations everywhere as their knowledge of the enormous, unceasing value of data is growing https://www.aclu.org/campaigns-initiatives/get-the-flock-out.

Thanks for this post. I hope people will put down their phones and realize how incredibly important this issue is.

    Keep up the great work!

    Ashley

P.S. Perhaps sometime this week we can do what we discussed.

I one hundred percent agree with you, Lisa. The installation of these Flock license plate readers is not a local agenda but a much broader one. These surveillance technologies are being set up everywhere and have been determined in advance to become a common signature in futuristic cities throughout the realm.

The Flock system to be used to stop crime is not their main objective. That’s bullshit, in my opinion, John. I believe it has more to do with spying on citizens. And I think it’s going to become much worse.

The police are being used to keep guard on the general public who have done nothing wrong.

Also, it will make surveilling a targeted individual so much easier.

The town I live in (about 6.5 square miles and 2500 people) has introduced these cameras. The cameras are being mobiley (is that a real word? no matter, you get the idea) deployed in different areas.
This isn’t about real crime (murder, rape, robbery) this is all about making money for the lesser crimes (unregistered vehicle— for starters)

I agree, they need to: get the ***flock out*** of here.
