The secret to blogging and regularly writing interesting content

An aspiring writer recently contacted me, asking for my secret to producing lots of interesting content each month.

Truth be told, there’s no secret, just lots of time spent writing.

If you truly want to know how to write interesting content, the answer is to spend a lot of your time writing it. On average, I write about 6-12 hours a day, working on articles and novels.

In the past several years, I’ve been working on various writing projects more than before. Since retiring from a private chiropractic practice in 2021, I have had plenty of time to do so.

My real writing passion is fiction, and the bulk of my writing is done on my Android wherever I happen to be.

Sometimes I write in a car while waiting for my wife, sometimes in my home office on a laptop, and sometimes at 3 in the morning in bed when ideas mysteriously come to me, and believe me, some of the best ideas present themselves during the strangest times.

This year, I wrote and published the novellas Holograms and The One-Hour Diner. I also wrote the screenplays for the two stories.

I then wrote a collection of short fictional stories called Truth Engines and the novella The Bike Courier, and am currently finishing my first attempt at a contemporary romance novella set in Rome.

Why a contemporary romance novella? Why not? It’s an entirely new genre for me, and I wanted to create something different, something uplifting and hopeful.

If you’re an aspiring writer and want to get better at your craft, you must write every day. There’s no other way to improve your skills other than to put in the work. You’ve gotta pound those keys, so to speak, because the stories aren’t going to get finished unless you finish them!

The same advice goes for bloggers. If you want to write a successful blog or website, you can’t be afraid to write every day. Consistency is the key, in my view, to producing successful content.

Someone also recently asked me why I spend so much time writing.

I don’t know that I can honestly answer that question. I think a big part of why I write so much is because it’s always been an outlet for me, a way to cope with the world I have to try to exist in. If I’m being totally honest, I’d have to say that writing makes this place more bearable to live in at this stage of my life.
