What is “Sports Entertainment,” and what does this term mean in a legal sense?

Dr. John Reizer

If you look up on any search engine whether NFL games are scripted events, the results will say no. Although the NFL is considered “Sports Entertainment,” all games are individually competitive contests. The outcomes are allegedly decided on the field by the athletes, and the games’ outcomes are not predetermined by the league or its officials.

Despite this bit of officialdom from search-related requests, one has to seriously question the integrity of any sports contests where heavily legalized gambling products are in play.

Please understand that I am not writing that the NFL is rigging or predetermining its individual contests or shows.

But in all fairness to the plethora of people who believe that the NFL is akin to the WWE,  a well-known and publicly acknowledged “Sports Entertainment” business model that openly admits its matches are scripted, check out the information I discovered by asking Internet search engines specifically designed questions.

  1. What is the “Sports Entertainment” label?

2. Is the NFL a form of Sports Entertainment?

3. Has the NFL ever attempted to defend itself from a legal suit in a U.S. court of Law by claiming itself as a Sports Entertainment business?

In my non-legal personal opinion, it seems to me that each NFL game encompasses different elements that are all together considered a competitive sports event where legalized gambling regularly occurs and is heavily marketed.

However, I perceive a mixed message from search-related inquiries that label NFL contests as part of “Sports Entertainment,” a category purposely created to allow for scripted events and predetermined outcomes in performances or shows.

NFL games have pre-game activities that are theatrical, followed by four quarters of competitive play by athletes, and sandwiched between those quarters are half-time “shows” that are once again theatrical performances.

It seems like there’s a blending between real competitive gamesmanship and theatrical showmanship. Where are the legal lines drawn, and has the atmosphere been blurred so much that the lines between the two are no longer clearly demarcated?

While the NFL says its games are not scripted, it has a habit of defending itself in court by asserting that fans or “ticket holders purchase a show rather than a guaranteed strictly honest sporting competition.”

I know what I think, but what is your opinion about this highly controversial and polarizing subject?

“The odds of getting a truly independent film produced and distributed in today’s realm are slim to none.

Rachel Alig in the Target List Movie

Getting Target List onto major movie platforms was another miracle in the making. The fact that the movie has an underlying message that is censored on nearly all social media platforms and by most search engines that index Internet files and related content decreased the odds of successful production and distribution.

Yet despite all the impossible odds that screamed, there was no way this movie would get done, a team of determined creators made Target List a reality, and now it’s often featured on the homepage of one of the largest movie platforms in the world.

Independent Movie History

“Indie Films” at one point referred to movies created outside the tentacles of major Hollywood production studios; the term now encompasses films made each year by small independent companies, as well as an ever-increasing number of films backed by smaller companies that have significant financial backing coming from major Hollywood studios.

True Indie movies, like Target List, are entirely financed and produced outside the Big Hollywood studio system, often relying on individual investors or crowdfunding.

The incredible thing about Target List is that this film is an actual Indie production that’s performing admirably alongside much bigger-budget films.

A significant portion of our film’s success is directly attributed, in my opinion, to the large viewer base coming from NoFakeNews. Thanks for supporting the Target List indie film. We couldn’t have reached millions of people without your help!
