A Tribute to the late Robert Redford and Paul Newman, and their film: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

I believe Hollywood Westerns were intentionally written and produced to convince people that the American West was undeveloped before European settlers moved westward and developed it. It’s all part of a bigger agenda, in my view, to hide Old-World Buildings from our society.

Regardless of that fact, I remember watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when I was a young boy and thinking how cool it would be to write and create movies someday.

There’s nothing like the old actors and movies, John. But what is it about westerns that intrigues us so much? I loved watching the old western TV shows and movies. Was it the battles between the cowboys and Indians? What it all the horseback riding ? 🐎

Was it learning more about the lifestyle of the Native American culture and their lifestyle? Did their natural way of living and their respect for nature touch us on some deep level?

But yet the controllers made sure there was always strive between the white and red man. Always a war between them. And they liked to depict the red man as wild and out of control. Also, a lot of gunfights amongst the white man themselves.

Westerns tend to depict us struggling in a menial lifestyle and trying to survive. Maybe it is that survival aspect that intrigues us so much.

But we’re being lied to as to where we came from. The people were actually much greater and sophisticated in their lifestyle. They had technology that we can’t even comprehend. And they were deeply connected to the source and the aether.

What a great thing to post, John!

Where are the Paul Newmans and Robert Redfords today?!

    Also, LOVE the music!

    Thanks again!
P.S. Submitted the “normal” way last night (twice), and today, via comments. (Just a heads up!) 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on the article, Lisa. 👍🙂

I think you hit the nail on the head several times with your analysis of Westerns.

These productions served multiple agendas, the most important being that they conveyed to the American public that America was built from scratch by European settlers through the concept of Manifest Destiny.

These films have become an integral part of our perception of America’s history. After studying what I have and learning about a more truthful explanation of the realm, I regard these films much differently than I once did.

However, from a storytelling perspective, I do appreciate the greatness of this film.
