For those visiting here for the first time, I occasionally write short fictional stories on the site in between more serious subjects.

On the first day, I slipped underneath the ventilator’s influence like a scuba diver descending into the depths of an ocean environment. The diagnosis, COVID-19 had affected my lungs hard, so the doctors induced me into a medical coma.
It wasn’t a virus threatening my life, but rather the effects from a lethal dose of electromagnetic radiation that had been delivered from a Directed Energy Weapon from a fusion center that traveled over 700 miles to hit its target, me!
The ventilator did the breathing for me. Computers monitored my vitals. I was 58 years old, alone in a sterile ICU room, and for all intents and purposes, a goner.
The visions began to enter my mind’s eye on the fifth day. I should have already died, but for some strange reason, my current incarnation desired to continue in the game.
They began as hallucinations, me floating above my body and moving around the room. I barely heard some whispers in a foreign language I didn’t know but somehow managed to understand their meanings:
“Prepare to exit the Matrix.”
By the tenth day, I had left my body and traveled outside the room through strange geometric structures stretching in all directions. There were beings there who were tall, featureless forms made of light. They watched me. Sometimes, they gently poked my Auric body field with questions I couldn’t hear but always felt. One asked, “Are you ready to see?”
On the eighteenth day, my lungs moved on their own. The nurses celebrated in quiet relief and began slowly waking me.
I opened my eyes.
But nothing was the same.
At first, I noticed subtle things. When a nurse moved, I saw brilliant streaks of light behind her body, like she was something from a video game. I blinked. The ceiling flickered, as if changing its texture between one reality and another animated form. I looked at the IV stand and saw codes hovering beside the fluid bag, constantly updating.
I sat up, my heart racing, but not out of fear. It was out of recognition. It all looked real; only now I could see through it. Every object had digital data alongside it. Every person had translucent outlines, emotional color fields, and numerical codes positioned along their bodies.
Am I dead? I wondered.
When the doctor entered, I saw the man’s name hovering near his head like a computer game: Dr. Roger Martin.
I asked, weakly, “What day is it?”
“The Eighteenth,” said Dr. Martin. “You’ve been under for eighteen days. Welcome back!”
I laughed, though it came out as a dry cough.
Over the next few weeks, as my body healed, I realized no one else saw what I could, an overlay of data, light, and code. My doctors blamed what I claimed to see as a case of “post-ICU delirium,” but I knew otherwise. Something had changed. I hadn’t returned to the old world. I’d woken up into a clearer version of it, like someone had turned off all the filters.
One night, I looked outside the hospital window, watching the stars above. But they weren’t stars. They were nodes, access points. I raised my hand, and a subtle interface flickered open in my palm like a transparent touchscreen.
A message blinked:
“Game Avatar Status: Running!”
I knew the world wasn’t what it seemed. It never had been. And now I could see everything as it was: a 3-D holographic simulated construct!

“The Pulse is a gripping thriller by John Reizer. In 2027, a strange, mystifying pulse that seemed to emanate from the very depths of Earth itself caused widespread panic as people lost their neural integrity and consciousness. Thirteen years later, the pulse is back, stronger and more devastating than ever. With human civilization on the brink of collapse, a small elite force called the Alpha Team is tasked with the destruction of the place from where the signal is emanating. With General Adam West leading the team, Alex Harper and Maya Sanchez, who have a history with the pulse, join the mission alongside other experts from various fields. However, someone is providing the wrong information to the team. Up against an ancient evil, the Alpha Team must be ready to sacrifice themselves to save humanity.
Coming September 5, 2025

The Pulse is a short yet thoroughly engrossing tale laced with mystery, suspense, and intrigue. From the prologue, I was hooked and devoured the book in one sitting. Author John Reizer builds on a fascinating premise and crafts an absorbing narrative with a plot that refuses to show all its cards until the very last few pages. It keeps you engaged all the way through, making you wonder what’s about to happen next. I enjoyed the dynamic between the members of the Alpha Team, especially the chemistry between Alex and Maya. Each member brought their expertise to the mission and showed their heroism and courage under exacting circumstances. It not only made them likable but also easy to root for. I also liked the ending. It tied up all the plot threads in a neat bow. If you’re a fan of mystery, and thrillers with a dash of sci-fi, this is your book.”

The Missing
By John Reizer
Where death is just the beginning.
In the heart of a quiet town lies Evergreen Cemetery—an eerie resting place where no bodies are buried, only empty caskets, each holding a dark secret.
Beneath the surface of this unassuming plot of land is a twisted conspiracy engineered by Trucient Industries, a powerful biomedical corporation with a terrifying agenda.
Trucient’s public mission statement is simple enough: freeze the dead and revive them in the future through cryonics. But the truth is far different. Behind the benevolent façade of preserving life, Trucient is secretly harvesting organs from the homeless, the forgotten, and society’s outcasts, selling them to the highest bidder. But that’s only the beginning. Their true, audacious goal is to map the human brain, digitize it, and create a fully conscious artificial intelligence that could reshape humanity.
When a young private investigator named Jessica Harris meets Billy Hayes, a groundskeeper at Evergreen who has witnessed mysterious happenings on the property, the two team up and discover a hidden operation; they soon become entangled in a web of lies and danger. Will they expose the truth—or become just another pair of missing souls claimed by Trucient’s vision for the future?
The Missing is a chilling tale of power, technology, and the price of immortality. Secrets lurk in the shadows, and no one is truly safe. Not even the dead!

Thanks for your question, Jacques! 😀
Because of our strong egos in the game, we are often convinced to rush back into another incarnation.
In my Answers Book, I explain that there’s supposed to be a proper review process after each incarnation. However, the souls entering that review process are getting fewer and fewer because the group controlling the game is redirecting the dearly departed right back into a game they just exited, and these souls still have emotional connections to the experiences they’ve just left behind.
Believe it or not, there’s a period, or what our “soul in transformation” perceives as a period, before the emotions from the last download subside.
It’s not wise to jump right back into the construct, but many who don’t understand the nature of the game get immediately redirected back inside the Matrix. It’s that simple of an explanation. We’ve all been duped by our controllers in both the physical and spiritual realms.
John
Why do you think it’s so difficult to leave the Matrix? Do we not recognize the game for what it is once we are on the other side and in spiritual form?
The short answers to your questions, Claudia, are yes and yes! 😂
The strong egos tied to our avatars make the expressions and experiences here in the game seem real. I mean that the experiences are only real within the parameters of the simulation. Outside of the construct, the soul collective doesn’t take anything happening inside the Earth game personally.
So, my ego, which is attached to my avatar, wants revenge on the person sitting inside the fusion center pushing the buttons of a Directed Energy Weapon. That person is following orders and inputting coordinates, and doesn’t even know what targets have been selected. It’s very compartmentalized.
From our avatar’s downloaded perspective, things happening in the game are crazy and polarizing.
I think it’s important for people to understand that the game exists, not necessarily to interrupt the garnering of experiential knowledge, but to help people escape the Matrix when they graduate from the university.
The game has been rigged or hijacked from its designer, so there’s a snag for some souls trying to move on to other Sims or platforms. There’s a parasitic group of players that slipped through the game’s backdoor.
My work here has shifted in its focus significantly over the past few years. Most of the content I am writing currently is geared to a very narrow audience, people ready to leave the Matrix.
John
Do you sometimes wish the people operating the DEWs could be brought to justice? If these fusion centers are real places with government employees working in them, wouldn’t justice be served if they had to pay something for the crimes they’re committing against innocent civilians?
Claudia
Thanks so much for the feedback, Lisa! 😀
Let me say that since my near-death experiences in the fall of 2021, I have a much clearer vision and understanding of our realm or Matrix than before that time.
Since getting released from my 95-day hospital stay and surviving over three weeks on a ventilator, I have become a very busy writer, certainly a more consistent one. I’m not going to get into all the specifics of what I remember because I want to keep certain aspects of my personal life private. Yet, I want to share and be somewhat transparent about what I believe is occurring in the simulated construct we are all experiencing.
I wrote about some of my experiences in the Answers Book a few years ago, but that’s a fictionalized account of my experiences. Since recovering in 2021 from my poisoning by our controllers, I have developed an even more precise understanding of how this “thing” works.
We experience many lifetimes here, and it’s all for a purpose. But getting out of the game, when it’s time to do so, isn’t as easy as some might believe. That’s the risk and tradeoff we take and make when entering the Earth game!
John
Wow, John, this is so excellently written! 🙂👍
And in some ways I did feel like I was reading a fantastic story. You state it is fiction. But I believe there is much truth to this story.
Because I know that you really did recently experience a death defying time in your life on a ventilator. Which was as real as it gets!
And I also suspect your experience and how you were able to envision it was like no other who might have survived being on a ventilator. Although there were not many who survived.
However, my husband was one who also survived being on a ventilator for 16 days. And it was no small feat for either one of you to recover from this. Although for him I think it was more like being out like a light for awhile, and then the light was finally turned back on. There were no visions.
But with you, John, I can believe you might have done some astral traveling. And what you experienced may have been like nothing anyone else could perceive or imagine.
So, I really didn’t read this as though it were fiction. But a fantastical journey! ✨️
