By Ashley Hayes
I think it is very telling that I just spent nearly two hours working on this article, re-saving it as I went along because my work is often remotely deleted by those who do not want others to hear my voice, online or otherwise, only to have all of the versions, including its history on my computer, instantly deleted. (Think of the effort involved in that.)
So here I go again . . .
The video below was widely shared several years ago, but I think it is vital to share it again, to illustrate not only the use of propaganda to manipulate the minds of Americans, but how a very small group of individuals controls it all, controlling the messaging to us all:
As you watch, notice the mass-repeated catchphrase created by a government propagandist: “a threat to our democracy.” And understand that ANYTIME you hear the phrase “a threat to our democracy,” it’s really a slap in your face because, unbeknownst to most Americans, we’ve never actually had a democracy. Thanks to government propagandists including, and especially, Edward Bernays, “democracy” was long ago redefined to mean “rule over all by a few.” They just didn’t bother to tell the rest of us.

Edward Bernays, known as the “father of propaganda,” served on President Woodrow Wilson’s Committee on Public Information which not only convinced Americans to give of their time and money under false pretenses, but which convinced men to lay down their very lives. All for bankers (and clients of Bernays’). Realizing the extraordinary power he now possessed to exert mass mind control, combining the power of his words with the access he had to all forms of media, he quickly realized these skills could be put to good use for his clients in big business. And they were: he used his wordsmith skills to convince municipalities to flouridate their water, to enrich his client, ALCOA, despite the fact that flouride had been proven to be toxic; he convinced women to start smoking by staging a fake “protest” and rebranding toxic cigarettes — which gave his wife lung cancer — “torches of freedom” to enrich his client, American Tobacco Company; he convinced thousands of stores, magazines, newspapers and more to promote the color green so that women would come to love it, and thereby be more encouraged to purchase his client’s Lucky Strike cigarettes, whose green packaging was a turn-off (because, apparently, one’s cigarette pack must not clash with one’s outfit); and on and on.
“P.R. Counsel” (aka propagandist) to multiple presidents, Bernays dubbed his mass mind control abilities “the engineering of consent,” utilizing methods he had learned from his famous uncle, psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, to appeal not to the rational part of the mind, but to the subconscious. He thoroughly understood the power of symbols, endlessly-repeated messages, catch-phrases, how to use celebrities to promote one’s product, how to use doctors in white coats to promote something he wanted people to believe was good for their health (even when it definitely was not), and on and on. He and his clients thrived on their combined ability to “control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing about it.”
Learning about Edward Bernays, and his control over the destinies of millions of individuals, was like waking up and realizing you’re in the middle of a bad dream. Unfortunately, Bernays lived to 103, so he was able to poison our world — literally and figuratively — in ways few others have been able to do. However, the few others who have been able to do so, are doing so on an even larger scale, thanks to the digitized world they’ve helped create, and their ownership of the media. (Plandemic anyone?)
The “Edward Bernayses” of today, whose goal is also mass mind control — and mass control of the population, in general — not only have access to all mainstream media, but media-in-an-instant. They can create — or have AI create — whatever message they desire (and it’s typically one of fear, of lost hope, or something meant to create distress — because if you’re fearful, you’re more controllable) and instantly have it appear on the news, on social media, on the radio, on a commercial (which can now be produced in just minutes) and more. It is a type of power nearly unfathomable. And it’s a type of power that’s extraordinarily dangerous.
Included in my previous article, Outfoxed by Propaganda: Part One, was the Fox News documentary, “Outfoxed.” I wanted to include it here again, particularly because it is an election year, and its messaging is more on-point than ever. Lisa, I am just seeing this!
Please forgive me for not wording what I said in a more understandable way. I did not mean to make you feel uncomfortable in any way. Literally, my ONLY reason for making that comment was to gauge how much I am being censored. I do not write articles to get comments (but welcome constructive ones, of course). I write because I feel a sense of duty to share what I know. Nothing more. Nothing less. Having dealt with extraordinary censorship for many years now, I had noticed there had not been any comments for a while (which was really unusual), and I was just trying to see if it was a censorship thing, or just simply — what it probably is — a matter or no one wanting to comment.
So sorry for any misunderstanding!
I hope you are well and are still able to get out and enjoy your walks!
Ashley
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Lisa!
There are a lot of articles published on NoFakeNews each month. Some of these posts receive likes and comments and others don’t.
Readers here are not obligated to like or comment on anything published on the platform. This policy applies to comments left by readers as well.
I believe people come here not out of obligation but because some of us feel this website offers a clearer picture of what might be occurring throughout the realm than traditional mainstream news outlets.
Here are my two cents: comments are always welcome on NoFakeNews but completely optional.
My only requirement for posters is that if you are leaving a comment you do so in a respectful manner. I post all comments regardless of whether they agree or disagree with an article’s central premise as long as they do not contain profanity or vulgar language.
Let’s all try to get along while we continue to search for clues about what’s happening in the Matrix. 😀

I understand that censorship is very real, and agitating to deal with. But I have to say that I did not enjoy seeing assumptions being made in these comments about my overall participation on Nofakenews. Because although it’s true that I am quite dedicated to most of John Reizer’s articles, that might not mean I participate in everything on the site.
Also, I honestly did not appreciate seeing my name being pointed out as to whether or not I have commented on someone else’s articles. It made me feel as though it was a personal complaint. And I can’t speak for others, but that is how I felt about it.
I enjoy very much what I do here on Nofakenews, and corresponding with John Reizer. I have spent many hours daily over the years writing, researching, typing and sharing my thoughts about many different topics. But I do what I am comfortable with. And occasionally I do appreciate a little break.
Also, I have had my share of a few articles and I never expect anything. And it’s quite the surprise if I should get a comment! Because it’s quite rare!
Sorry, John, but I had to get that out of my system! 😕
Lisa
You always write informative telling articles, Ashley. But, no, I have not made any comments. And I wouldn’t know about anyone else.
Lisa
John,
I sent an edit to this this morning. But also had sent you a comment that my articles, for some time, have had ZERO comments. And, as you know, that is highly unusual — particularly for Lisa Hakes, Sandy Edwards, Roark, and others.
I don’t know if the comments link is present on their end (on my articles), or if they are commenting and their comments are being blocked.
It’s been happening for some time now. Curious to know the low-dpwn. Are you able to ask Lisa, or Sandy, or Roark — or anyone — if they are able to comment, or if they HAVE.
I know I’ve had many things censored, blocked, and outright deleted. But I was curious about that.
Just let me know when you can.
Thanks so much for all you do.
Ashley
