Music Can Heal You!

Dr. John Reizer

The things we perceive as noise comes from frequencies in our environment that enter our ears and are converted into intelligible sounds by our brains.

I have always been a firm believer that the sounds we encounter in our immediate environment play a large role in maintaining the integrity of our physiology.

Barry Manilow – I Write the Songs

If exposed to some sound frequencies, the body can potentially suffer physiological distress that can cause systemic disruption of health.

Exposure to other sound frequencies can potentially improve body chemistry.

“Music helps reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure and cortisol in the body. It eases anxiety and can help improve mood.”

The healing power of music — lauded by philosophers from Aristotle and Pythagoras to Pete Seeger — is now being validated by medical research. It is used in targeted treatments for asthma, autism, depression and more, including brain disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and stroke.” — NY Times

If a song sounds pleasing to your ears, it is likely good for you mentally, emotionally, and physiologically.

Music is a universal language understood by everyone. Music is powerful and it can heal your body!

That’s interesting, John, I just got back to my car from going on my daily walk through a park in town that runs along the Milwaukee River. And I checked to if anything new was happening on nofakenews. And I saw the topic of musical healing.
Everytime when I walk out in nature I listen to the classical piano music of Jennifer Thomas. I find her music highly relaxing and uplifting. I love it, it’s meditative! 😌
Although I do prefer more high energy music, such as rock, if I should go to Planet Fitness. 😎
But, yes, musical frequencies can really be very powerful!
And the music most enchanting for me is when I sing along to my Quartz cyrstal chakra singing bowls. I sing mantras along with each one. Each bowl has a different note and color corresponding to each of the chakras. You make vibrational music with them by taking a mallot and going around and around the rim of the bowl with it.
And I just learned the other day that each chakra has it’s very own specific mantra. I was so excited to learn that! 🙂 So now I am learning them, so I can add them to my meditation sessions.

Also, my son with autism (vaccine -injured) had music therapy for over twenty years. And although it was no cure, music was a way to bring words out of him. Because he is primarily non-verbal. But unfortunately, he refuses to attend his sessions with his delightful music therapist anymore. (And I adore the woman! She is so special in dealing with these disability individuals.)
But my son’s non-participation these days also includes all of his activities he previously had attended. His behavior started regressing about a year or so ago.
Although his music therapist still leaves open a spot for him. She diligently texts reminders to me every two weeks. But sadly it never happens! (And ironically, as I was typing this I got my text from her for tomorrow’s session. Lol!)
