The Power of Positive Thinking

Dr. John Reizer

If I could have chosen a blood type for my body it would have been B Positive. Just kidding, I could not resist the play on words.

In all seriousness, I believe there is a lot of truth to the idea that claims positive thinking can change your mind about what is possible to accomplish in life.

I will tell you a personal story that changed my life and career as a writer. As most of you know, in 2019 I wrote a novel that detailed a lot of nefarious things happening in real-life situations. The book was about a technology that could cure diseases without drugs and surgery and big pharma’s attempts to suppress the invention. It’s not too difficult to envision this happening in real life.

After I wrote the story, I decided to run several promotions that gave the novel away for free.

In return, I received many comments about the book. Some remarks were positive and others not so much. Sometimes people can be mean-spirited, that is for sure.

One woman called me a sexist because in her opinion I portrayed the female protagonist in the story unfavorably. When you write and publish fiction, you often get plenty of crazy people that come out of the woodwork and send you interesting feedback.

One person told me that the novel had cinematic potential. I asked, “Are you  kidding?” He replied, “No, I am very serious.”

That’s all I had to hear. I was off on a vision quest. From that point forward, I believed my story was so important, that it needed to be made into a movie.

When I first began trying to figure out how to turn the novel into a movie, it almost seemed like an impossible task.

I began visualizing the story as a movie and started researching how to make that happen. I also visualized meeting people that could help me accomplish my goal.

Most of the people I spoke with told me that what I was trying to do was ridiculous. They said making movies is a tough business and it is nearly impossible to get a foot in the door.

I refused to give up and continued to do additional research. I believed the story was a good one.

I never listened to the people telling me to give up. I kept pushing forward while visualizing the goal in my mind and the rest of the story is history. That’s how Target List, the feature film got done.

Through positive thinking, keeping focused on the goal instead of the many obstacles, and a miracle that allowed me to somehow find the right person to collaborate with, my novel has been transformed into a full-length movie. That’s what the power of positive thinking can do if you give it a chance.

Thank you for this post, John.
The power of positive thinking is undeniable when it is followed by action, staying/continuing in our truths, and using our gifts and knowledge to the best of our abilities. You lead by a great example, particularly given the knowledge you have, and articles you have written and shared, regarding the extraordinary darkness that continues to invade our lives. You not only shine a light on that darkness, but somehow simultaneously light a path for others to follow, by not being deterred from your dreams, and continuing to bless others with your art and creativity.
    Thank you!

I love your personal story, John, of how the Target List movie came to be! 🙂

And believe it or not my blood type actually is B positive. But its meaning can be tough to live up to sometimes.
