Target List – The journey from a proof-of-concept movie to a full feature film

By John Reizer

Once completed, Target List, a full feature film, will be a high-energy, fast-paced medical-action-thriller about the creation of a life-saving healthcare instrument and big pharma’s attempt to suppress the technology.

Let me explain how the creators of this project took the story from a novel to a feature film that will begin production in April 2022.

The Concept!

What if I told you there was a way to eradicate all animal and human diseases in a matter of minutes? What if a technology existed that could eliminate illnesses of any type in people without introducing chemical products or making surgical incisions? How amazing would that be?

I am not writing about cutting out diseased tissues (surgical procedures) to resolve an illness by removing physical matter. I am writing about an instrument that could heal the body using radio frequencies. I am writing about a wave-altering-nanoparticle-disrupter –WAND.

Target List is a story centered around a conspiracy theory within medicine that subscribes to the idea that the pharmaceutical industry is willing to hold back and even destroy healthcare technologies that might help humanity have a better expression of health for the pursuit of monetary gain.

When MJ Palo and I began transforming my 2019 novel, TheTarget List, into a full-length
screenplay; we decided to make one significant change to the story. We both agreed that the main protagonist needed to be a female in her thirties. Clyde Daniel was the protagonist in the novel — not the case in the movie script. We also made other modifications to the project.

The storyline, plot, and anything else is fluid and ever-changing when writing fiction. This screenplay was no exception to that rule.

Having no prior experience with writing screenplays, I had to rely heavily on the expertise of my co-writer. I learned a lot from working with MJ Palo. She transformed a good story into a
tremendous full-length movie script.

After we finished the screenplay, MJ convinced me that we needed to shoot a short pilot or proof of concept film to attract investors to make the feature film.

Watching that process occur was a fantastic personal experience. When the pilot aired on Amazon Prime and other platforms in the summer of 2021, I appreciated again the many talented people who had invested time and finances to bring the Target List story to fruition.

Then I became deathly ill and was placed on a ventilator for three weeks. I remained in a hospital bed for 95 days and underwent seven surgical procedures to stop internal hemorrhaging. I died and came back to life. When I awakened, I had to relearn how to use my hands and walk. Six weeks of intense physical therapy followed before I could walk on my own.

I returned from death’s doorstep to be with my family, and to make our movie. I expressed to MJ that we needed to do whatever was necessary to complete our project, and that’s exactly what she did.

We are now a week away from the feature film going into production. The filming of the full-length movie will undoubtedly become one of the most exciting experiences of my creative writing career.

Target List, a feature film, would have been impossible to create without Mad Wife Productions, especially Andrew Arguello and MJ Palo. Thank you so much for taking a chance on the story!

John, I am sure it was no coincidence that you found MJ Palo to help your turn your terrific novel The Target List into first a pilot, and now into a full length feature film. And she was patient and understanding in waiting for your return from the dead. I had corresponded with her during that time to let her know that I was still interested in investing. We exchanged our well wishes for you. MJ has treated me with great respect. I appreciated being able to share my input about the auditions and about certain changes to the script. And what a great script it is! Plus, the many actors/actresses that came forth to audtion was amazing. And I am sure the final cast will do the film great justice!

The Target List movie was meant to be. I will never forget when I first I read the novel back in 2019. I was so excited that I had to tell my friends all about it. But I never dreamed at the time that I would be a part of it becoming a pilot and then a full length production. And for that matter, I never dreamed when I found your website that I would be plugging away regularly making comments. I had never had anything to do with social media before. But the cause meant a great deal to me. I was awake and it felt like calling!
What a journey it has been. So much inspiration has come to me! And what a friend I came across along the way! 🙂

It sure has been a wild ride, Lisa, and you know how much this movie means to me personally.

From the very beginning, I wanted to share the story with as many people as possible. I wrote the novel, and MJ and I collaborated on the screenplay long before COVID was even a thing.

After COVID, I was even more determined to share the story. Then it became even more important to share the idea, in my mind, after I survived last year.

I appreciate your participation in the project and honesty believe that the entire movie production team is super talented and will knock it out of the ballpark and make a great film that we can all be proud about.

It has been quite a wild ride, John! Plus, yes, it will certainly be something we can all be proud of.

And MJ has played a very significant role in this project, but it has been especially heartening for you!!!

I can’t imagine a better time in history for this type of movie to be made and released. The story of your persistence in making the film is a heck of a story itself. Congratulations!

I agree, Brian. The timing of the movie is fantastic. This is a film people will want to see as evidenced by the traffic on the movie’s official website. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🙂

I read the novel two years ago, and am looking forward to seeing the story on the big screen. Will it be in theaters?

    • Dr. John Reizer April 14, 2022 / 8:33 am

The distribution should be broad. I don’t know specific outlets at this time, but we believe that people are going to have easy viewing access to Target List. And yes, there is always the possibility of the film being released in theaters. But we can not confirm that information at this time. The movie won’t be released until 2023.

We need to create a giant watch party with everyone from the website. What do you think about that, John? Would you be willing to host something like that?

    • Dr. John Reizer April 14, 2022 / 8:36 am

I think that is a great idea, Terri. I would be honored to host such an event on this or any platform. Let’s organize it and make sure it comes to life! 👍

When you visualize and see something in your mind it can happen in life. This applies to both good and bad things. Great story, Dr. John.

I can’t agree with you more, Raymond. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
